A garden for you

The Beginning - 2012 Planting
Every Spring my husband and I get out into the yard and back into our garden.  For me it's become therapeutic if you will as it not only gives me something to do other than my normal maid for hire duties, but I feel good about what we produce in it as well.

Since Earth Day is upon us this coming weekend (April 22 to be exact), I thought why not share with the Blogosphere our accomplishments within the dirt!  Gardening has become a passion of mine for the last few years.  Like I said above the biggest factor in my opinion is controlling where your food comes from, and what is used to nourish and protect that food.  I am a chemical user, however all of the products we use are 100% Organic certified.  For the most part they work very well, but I will yet again be trying something new with some mixes you can make at home to keep the pests at bay. Once I know how they work I'll add my reviews and recipes on here in hopes that you will be able to use them in your gardens or flower beds.

For a few months now I have been planning and laying out what we were going to be planting.  A bunch of the returning line up  (Carrots, Onions, Peas, Broccoli), and some new stars as well  (Bok Choy, Napa Cabbage, Hybid Red Carrots) these are the "Wow / Gourmet" versions of the old standby's.  We actually just finished up our cold crop plantings in a mist yesterday and I think it is really going to help the veggies take off.  The highlight was the giant worms we were picking up and relocating in the garden (A worm witness protection program if you will).  Don't hate on the worms, they are your friends people!  They become your underground posse of sorts, keeping things legit in places you cant get to.  They are my undercover brothers of sorts (very 21 Jumpstreet themed)!

Some of 2011's Harvest
Over the next month Phase 2 of my little plan will come together when some of the cold crops above are done, and my yummy summer fruits and veggies get to go in.  With a wet summer like we had this past year in the books, I am really not sure how to prepare for this year.  I guess we will hope for the best but prepare for the worst!

I am hoping to keep everyone up to date on how the fruits of our labor progress, but I can't stress enough the importance of everyone trying a veggie garden out.  Tiny or huge "Make it happen"!  Start with Lettuce or Herbs if you are a newbie, or simply put a little research in online and in no time inexpensive, healthy foods will find their way to your table.  Bite for bite you will be feeling accomplished and full knowing your family is off to a good start.  Oh, and your wallet will thank you!

Happy Worms and Dirt!

A New Day

I think the above is pretty true, don't you?!
Well folks, it's a new day for me.  That means a new Blog for you!  Many of you remember my older Blog, "The Eyes of King".  I really enjoyed writing that Blog, but doing posts at that time of my life, while only a few months ago was hard.  I was trying to get in shape, I had been laid off, and really was not in a confident, happy place with myself.  I think it reflected in what I wrote to you all.

Please don't get me wrong, I thought what I had shared with you was good, tactful, but it wasn't me.  I'm known to be a bit off my rocker, I think that's what makes me unique.  Most of all I'm OK with that!  So I sat down over the last couple months and jotted some ideas of what would be a solidly fun Blog to share with you all, and it still always came back to my core values ..... make it fun, make it about my crazy life, make it scream 'Sass'!

So, after all of the thoughts (and voices in my head) quieted, most of my notes went out the window, and as I type these words now, I can't tell you what I am going to spit out from one week to the next.  I just hope you enjoy it!  Hell, I hope some of my crazy happenings make you laugh out loud.  Make you think, "S***, I just did that last week"!  If I can do that, than I will have a sense of self worth, lol.  Just Kidding, but I will have a smile on my face.

So, look for some new and very random thoughts coming your way.  Lets share stories, lets talk about our kids, yell about our spouses, and how those pants seem to fit the other day!

Let's have fun, and hopefully you'll be feeling some "Sass" in no time too!

Hugs & Giggles!
